Yarrowstalks #1 R. Crumb (Brian Zahn, 1967) Condition: VG. This item is something of a "holy grail" among R. Crumb collectors, due to the inclusion of Robert's earliest comic strips starring his famous "Mr. Natural" character. Basically a "hippie newspaper", Yarrowstalks was the brainchild of Philadelphia publisher Brian Zahn, who signed this copy in the upper right margin. Unlike the white-paper copy that sold in our last auction (at $567.63 for a FN copy), this one is printed on newsprint; however, both copies originated from the same collection. Crumb would continue to contribute strips to this and other similar papers (like New York's East Village Other), before turning his attention on his first solo comic, Zap Comix #1. No certificate of authenticity accompanies the autograph. Fogel's Underground Comix Price Guide GD 2.0 value = $20; FN 6.0 value = $60. Key words: R. Crumb, Robert Crumb, Underground Comix.
