DescriptionRobert Crumb, Spain Rodriguez, Vaughn Bodé and others The East Village Other Group of 30 (EVO, 1965-1970). New York's East Village Other (EVO) was among the first counterculture newspapers of the 1960s. Its importance to the Underground Comix movement involves the generous use of cartoons and strips by artists including Robert Crumb, Kim Deitch, Trina Robbins, Spain Rodriguez, Gilbert Shelton, Vaughn Bodé, and Art Spiegelman -- foreshadowing such self-contained Underground comic books as Zap Comix and the EVO-sponsored Gothic Blimp Works. This well-preserved array includes some of Crumb's earliest pieces after he had quit the mainstream greeting-card industry. Very unusual to find such a generous selection of issues in any condition. Overall Very Good condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.
