Lenny of Laredo #1 First Printing File Copy (Sunbury Productions, 1965) Condition: VF/NM Joel Beck's funny take off on Lawrence of Arabia features the story of Beat comic Lenny Bruce. Beck was one of the first generation of cartoonists in the sixties' Underground movement, which began in college newspapers and humor magazines. Lenny of Laredo is considered one of the "grandfather" Undergrounds, along with Jack Jackson's God Nose and Foolbert Sturgeon's Adventures of Jesus, all of which predated Robert Crumb's Zap Comics #1. This is the same copy we received from Beck's original publisher, and sold in our February, 2012 auction; at that time, we listed in with a grade of NM-. A very faint crease in the lower right corner went by undetected by us, and the original buyer decided to return the book. We still think this is a remarkable item and a beautiful copy, undoubtedly one of the finest still in existence. Underground collectors, you've got another chance to add this historic book to your collection! Includes a letter of authenticity from the publisher. Fogel's Underground Comix Price Guide NM 9.4 value = $5,000.
