Description

King Bee #1 (Apex Novelties, 1969) Condition: VG+. "Hey Gang, Look what's new from the makers of Zap." That's how the King Bee himself introduced this new tabloid (published by Don Donahue) to retailers for purchase. #1 was the only issue ever actually published, but it is probably the most rare of Robert Crumb's many contributions. Inside this scarce Underground, there's a bizarre "jam" comic featuring art by Crumb, with fellow Zap artists Victor Moscoso, Rick Griffin, and S. Clay Wilson, called "Reel Jam," that has not been reprinted in the Complete Crumb Comics series by Fantagraphics. Fogel's Underground Comix Price Guide Supplement GD value = $50; FN value = $100.
