Description

Gothic Blimp Works #nn (#7) (East Village Other, 1969) Condition: NM. These remarkable tabloid comic books need no hype to the dedicated collector of Undergrounds - chances are they are already on many wantlists. The fragile items were produced on cheap pulp newsprint, and most were read, reread, and thrown away. The few that were kept were mostly stored folded, making the survivors that do turn up on the market appear in low grade. This beauty was kept flat and clean, and looks like it did back in the days when men were walking on the moon! This next-to-last issue features art by Robert Williams, S. Clay Wilson, Spain Rodriguez, and even a young Bernie Wrightson. But the real story is the fabulous condition. Jerry Weist notes these as extremely rare in high grade, and in his Comic Art Price Guide published in 2000, estimates a NM copy to be worth $125. That's undoubtedly conservative. You probably won't come across a nicer copy than this exceptional example.
