Austin Iconoclastic Newsletter and Magazine Group (The Austin Iconoclastic, 1964). The Austin Iconoclastic Newsletter (title later changed to The Austin Iconoclastic Magazine) was, in many ways, one of the first true Underground Comix. Featuring radical commentary (opposition to the Vietnam War, racial inequality, etc.), this modest publication also featured strips like Frank Stack's New Adventures of Jesus . This important group lot includes a copy of the precursor to the magazine, The Austin Iconoclastic Newsletter #1 (FN, name written in ink), complete with the free bumpersticker, plus the magazine issues #1 (FN/VF, name written on front cover in ink) and #2 (VF). Both include art by Stack, Gilbert Shelton, and Jack Jackson. All are quite rare and should be considered a must for serious Underground Comix collectors. Newsletter listed in Fogel's Underground Comix Price Guide FN 6.0 value = $90; magazines not listed.
