Captain Future Group (Better Publications, 1940-44). Captain Future, the Wizard of Science was raised on the moon from childhood by Simon (a man whose body had died but his brain lived on in a floating box), Otho the android, and Grag the robot. The latter two were the creations of Simon and Captain Future's father. This title combined the best elements from the science fiction and "hero" pulp genres, creating a legacy that endures to this day. This group of pulps contains many issues from this series, including the first issue: Winter 1940 (FR/GD); plus Spring 1940 (VG); Winter 1941 (VG/FN); Fall 1941 (FN); Summer 1942 (FN); Fall 1942 (VG/FN); Spring 1943 (VG); Summer 1943 (VG+); Winter 1944 (GD+); and Spring 1944 (VG+). Most have cover art by Jerome Rozen or Earl Bergey. None are brittle. The Ultimate Guide to the Pulps VG value for group = $305.
