Description

Harlem Stories #2 August 1932 (Jaycline) Condition: VG/FN. This is a very attractive copy of one of the rarest pulps of all time, with both issues from this series featured in this same auction. Both issues originally came from the Frank Robinson Collection.
The second and final issue of this impossibly rare series features a duotone cover by "Menin" with illustrations by Dann Charles. One of the scarcest pulp titles of all, this represented a cross-section between the "girly pulps" of the 1920s and the ongoing Harlem Renaissance; this was also a rare instance of a pulp series focused primarily (and positively) on Black people.
Bookery's notes the series as "very rare", stating that "only a few known copies of each" exist today and that this second issue is "even rarer" than the first. We have never encountered either issue before, and very little information exists online about the contents of each. Presenting uncertified copies of both within this same auction offers a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the most experienced pulp collectors and historians. There is a book-length vertical crease to the front cover and most pages. Bookery's Guide to Pulps Second Edition 2020 VG value = $1500.

More Information: EDIT: Noted that this originated from the Frank Robinson Collection.
