Weird Tales #114 June 1933 Frank M. Robinson Pedigree (Popular Fiction) CGC NM/MT 9.8 Off-white pages. We are honored to present not only the nicest copy of this highly coveted issue, but what may be the nicest pulp we have ever seen. When CGC began certifying pulps, people wondered if any 9.8 pulps existed at all. We have seen only two 9.8 pulps prior to this Auction: one a bedsheet issue from the height of Amazing Stories, and the other a factory-trimmed 1941 issue of Doc Savage. This joins that elusive 9.8 club as the first 1930s pulp-format book we've ever seen in such near-flawless condition.This issue features a nude cover by the beloved Margaret Brundage for the Conan story "Black Colossus" by Robert E. Howard, as well as stories by Clark Ashton Smith, Hugh B. Cave, and Paul Ernst. This issue is Weird Tales at its absolute finest, in a condition scarcely even dreamt of for pulps. We could speak endlessly about its perfect corners, bright red spine, and spotless black-and-white backgrounds, but that hardly does justice to how exciting this book is. Bookery's Guide to Pulps Second Edition 2020 VF 8.0 value = $600. CGC census 9/25: 1 in 9.8, none higher. NOTE: The newly released Bookery's Guide to Pulps: Revised Third Edition 2025 VF 8.0 value for this issue is $1,000.
