Description

Black Mask #59 February 1, 1924 (Pro-Distribution) CGC FN 6.0 Off-white to white pages. While grades like 9.6 and 9.8 rightly catch people's attention, this mighty 6.0 is among the most impressive books in this collection for long-time pulp collectors. 1920s pulps, and especially early issues of Black Mask, are rarely encountered in this kind of shape or with this kind of page quality.
This issue features "Night Shots" by Dashiell Hammett, starring the Continental Op, with a cover by O. K. Uzzell. Bookery's notes as "especially scarce". Bookery's Guide to Pulps Second Edition 2020 VG 4.0 value = $400; VF 8.0 value = $1,200. CGC census 10/25: 1 in 6.0, none higher. NOTE: The newly released Bookery's Guide to Pulps: Revised Third Edition 2025 FN 6.0 value for this issue is $1500; VF 8.0 value = $3000.
From the Dr. Richard Meli Collection.
