The Adventures of Mr. Obadiah Oldbuck - First Printing - Brother Jonathan Extra IX (Wilson Publishing, 1842) Condition: Apparent GD. Historic publication considered the very first comic book published in America, published nearly 100 years before Action Comics #1. Less than a dozen copies of this elusive gem are thought to exist, with most copies crumbling with age. This professionally restored copy has had each page reinforced with archival-quality paper, meaning this one you can actually turn the pages and read without fear of it falling apart in your hands. Restoration included light cleaning to the pages; missing paper filled in via leafcasting; and a few tear seals and reinforcing, with no color touch. Enjoy reading Rodolphe Töpffer's pioneer "graphic novel," written and drawn before your great-grandfather was born! 2014 Overstreet Fair 1.0 value = $2,200; GD 2.0 value = $5,000.
