    Description

Pore Lil Mose His Letters to His Mammy (Grand Union Tea Co., 1902) Condition: FR. Richard Outcault was one of the most popular cartoonists of the early 1900s. Here's a scarce collection of early strips by the artist, published in 1902 in conjunction with the New York Herald and the Grand Union Tea Company, but is best known as the first comic published by Cupples and Leon. This book is tough to find in any condition, let alone complete, and is eagerly sought out by collectors of Black Americana. Our copy is complete, and has a taped spine; otherwise, it's quite sound and readable, with two pages having come loose and then glued back in place. Overstreet 2018 GD 2.0 value = $1,750. From the Outcault Family Collection.
