Mickey Mouse Magazine (Series 1) V1#1 (Walt Disney/Kamen-Blair, 1933) Condition: FN/VF. An extremely nice copy of one of the hardest Mickey Mouse publications to find. This is the first attempt to create a Mickey Mouse magazine, in digest size. Produced by Kay Kamen, the first series ran nine issues. While the first few issues (including this one) had a five cent cover price, they were designed as giveaways, coordinated with various stores and dairies. The second series followed the same format, only now they were dairy exclusives. This first series is so rare, Grand Comic Database has only the ninth issue cover-imaged! It's a Gerber "8" or "rare," and they aren't kidding, folks! Included is a vintage black and white print of the front cover, which may have been used in advertising this new venture. Overstreet 2018 FN 6.0 value = $834; VF 8.0 value = $1,668.
