Life Magazine - The First 12 Issues Bound Volumes (Life, 1883). A cornerstone of American periodicals, Life has documented everyday life as well as key historical and cultural events in some form or fashion almost continually for more than 130 years. In later years it became the first all-photographic American news magazine, dominating the market for more than 40 years and selling more than 13.5 million copies a week at its peak. Its contents included early work by cartoonist Robert Ripley of Ripley's Believe It or Not! fame, Norman Rockwell, Charles Dana Gibson (creator of the "Gibson Girl"), and author Dorothy Parker; key writings by Ernest Hemingway, and photography by Robert Capa, to name but a few. This pair of stunning volumes contains the magazine's first 12 issues, in fantastic condition with white to off-white pages, secured in attractive leather-bound hardcovers. Mild wear and soiling to the issues, and a few tears sealed with white tape; otherwise, they are in great condition with discoloration to the spines of the volumes.
