Funnies on Parade #nn (Eastern Color, 1933) CGC VF 8.0 Light tan to off-white pages. This is the highest-graded copy of the very first comic book! It just doesn't get much more important or impressive than that. Yes, this is considered to be the very first comic book ever published. It's seldom found in unrestored condition, and virtually never in grades above 4.0 (only five copies have topped that grade to date). The book was produced as a promotional tool for Procter and Gamble, with a limited print run of only 10,000 copies. The contents were all reprinted Sunday funnies strips, and the book was sent, for free, to customers who clipped coupons from the company's products. It would be a year later that Max Gaines would put price stickers on copies of Famous Funnies: A Carnival of Comics #1, to see if people would actually pay for assembled reprints of comic strips. Place a bid on this piece of comic royalty -- the bragging rights practically write themselves. Overstreet 2014 VF 8.0 value = $6,000. CGC census 11/14: 2 in 8.0, none higher.
