    Description

Famous Funnies: A Carnival of Comics #nn (Eastern Color, 1933) CGC FN- 5.5 Cream pages. Widely regarded as the second comic book ever published, Famous Funnies: A Carnival of Comics was the brainchild of M. C. Gaines, who sold it to a host of retailers including Kinney Shoe Stores, John Wanamaker, and Milk-O-Malt as a promotional giveaway. This "carnival" contains reprints of strips starring Joe Palooka, Mutt and Jeff, Reg'lar Fellers, and other favorites. In spite of the somewhat modest grade, this copy looks fantastic, with a clean white cover. CGC does note, "7 small puzzles filled in with pencil." At any rate, this is a truly historic item, one that doesn't show up often. A small crack in the CGC holder, visible in the lower right corner, does not affect the comic inside. Overstreet 2006 FN 6.0 value = $2,740. CGC census 4/06: 3 in 5.5, 10 higher.
