Detective Comics #2 (DC, 1937) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Cream to off-white pages. This is even tougher to find than the famously scarce #1! CGC's census bears that out -- it shows only nine total copies certified versus seventeen copies of #1 as of this writing. When we offered a VG copy of #2 two years ago it sold for $17,925, more than triple the Guide value at the time. The simple but striking cover art is by Creig Flessel. Speaking of artists, you'll notice the name "Eldon Dedini" written on the cover of this copy. This copy did indeed originally belong to that longtime Playboy artist, who was 15 years old when this comic came out. Overstreet 2009 FN 6.0 value = $8,550; VF 8.0 value = $20,000. CGC census 4/10: 1 in 7.0, 1 higher.
