    Description

Detective Comics #2 (DC, 1937) CGC Apparent FN+ 6.5 Slight to Moderate (C-2) Off-white pages. This second issue is even tougher to find than #1 -- it rates a Gerber "9" and is also called "rare" by Overstreet, who ranks it among the Top 100 Golden Age comics. Comic Book Marketplace listed it among the "50 rarest Golden Age comics." As was the case for #1, this issue has multiple detective features, the most notable of which is Slam Bradley, written by Jerry Siegel and drawn by Joe Shuster -- the creators who would soon produce Superman for the DC's Action Comics #1. The simple but striking cover is by ace artist Creig Flessel. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: small amount of color touch on cover, pieces added to cover, tear seals to cover, cover reinforced." Overstreet 2015 GD 2.0 value = $4,600; VG 4.0 value = $9,200; FN 6.0 value = $13,800.
