    Description

Detective Comics #3 (DC, 1937) CGC FN- 5.5 Off-white pages. Gerber's Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books rates this issue a "9" ("very rare") in its Scarcity Index, and Overstreet lists it as "rare". High-grade copies are essentially non-existent, at least according to CGC's census, which lists no copy with a higher grade than this offering. Overstreet only lists values up to VF 8.0, and that's apparently not even necessary! Early issues of the title that gave DC its name are in great demand by collectors as recent prices realized attest. Creig Flessel cover and art. Superman co-creators Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel contribute to this issue, which was published a year before Action Comics #1 hit the stands! Overstreet 2019 FN 6.0 value = $12,300. CGC census 11/19: 2 in 5.5, none higher.
