Detective Comics #2 (DC, 1937) CGC FN+ 6.5 Light tan to off-white pages. Everyone has something to say about this issue: Overstreet cites it "rare"; and Gerber's The Photo-Journal Guide To Comic Books gives it an outrageous "9" or "Very Rare". We concur, having offered only six unrestored copies over the past 18 years, with only two nicer than VG! CGC has certified a mere 14 unrestored copies to date, with just five of those garnering grades higher than VG/FN 5.0! It's tied for #68 on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list, even though the highest grade that Overstreet valuates for the issue is VF 8.0! Creig Flessel did the cover; Superman co-creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster contributed scripting and interior art respectively. Overstreet 2019 FN 6.0 value = $19,380; VF 8.0 value = $42,000. CGC census 11/19: 1 in 6.5, 3 higher.
