    Published in eight installments (2-15-36 through 4-4-36), the serialized Liberty publication of Double Indemnity is the first appearance of Cain's famous novel. It was not published in book form until 1943. Filmed in 1944, with a script co-written by Raymond Chandler and director Billy Wilder, it starred Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck and Edward G. Robinson. It remains one of the noir classics of film and literature.
