    Description

Wayne Boring (as Joe Shuster) Superman Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-3-44 (DC Comics/McClure Newspaper Syndicate, 1944). Superman and journalist Jimmy Olsen face a dilemma -- how to rescue a captive boy-king from an impenetrable prison? A characteristically fine composition from the period in which Boring out-performed his studio boss (co-creator Shuster) to become the definitive Superman artist of the midcentury. (Boring remained unbilled, all the same.) Boring's 1940s Olsen is a goofier-looking character than the Olsen of the 1950s-'60s. Ink over graphite on DuoTone board. Image area, 19" x 6". Pronounced age-toning and adhesive staining. Very Good condition.
