Walt Kelly Pogo "Welcome to Minneapolis" Comic Illustration Original Art (1969). The cast of Walt Kelly's beloved comic strip is introduced to the readers of the Minneapolis Tribune in this incredible specialty illustration. It's a nicely detailed piece, filled with typical Kelly touches, featuring Albert, Churchy, Howland, Beauregard, Bun Rab, Mam'selle Hepzibah, Miz Beaver, Pogo, and Porkypine, all happily reaching "the fabled city" that only took them twenty years to find! The art is in ink over blue pencil on Bristol board, with an approximate image area of 18" x 5.5". The art has been affixed to foamcore board and matted to an overall size of 22.5" x 10". There are a few very minor scattered stains, but the art is otherwise in Excellent condition. If you ever wanted just one piece of Pogo art that perfectly summed up this immortal strip, this is the one! From A Collection of Great Cartoonists and Illustrators.
