    Description

Todd McFarlane Marvel Tales #231 Cover Spider-Man Original Art (Marvel, 1989). By 1989, with only four short years of work at both Marvel and DC Comics, Todd McFarlane had already made quite a name for himself. Here he illustrates a personal favorite character of his, that friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. This was the all-new cover commissioned for the reprint of "Something Wicked This Way Kills" originally from Marvel Team-Up #108, guest-starring that gun-for-hire, Paladin. It is produced in ink over blue pencil on DC Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Why on DC Bristol board? Because McFarlane was working for both companies concurrently into 1989. This is ornately signed in the upper image area and bears a printed signature in the lower margin. Counting the signature on the art itself, and the personalized message on the back, that is four times on one piece! It is in Excellent condition.
