PLATINUM

Wally Wood The Spirit Weekly Newspaper Title Splash Page Original Art dated 9-7-52 (The Post-Standard, 1952). Following a legendary tenure at EC Comics and MAD, and prior to his triumphant return to comics in the early 1960s, Wally Wood, alongside Jules Feiffer, collaborated briefly on Will Eisner's Spirit Sunday supplement. This partnership resulted in some of the finest work of Wood's career. Tasked with revitalizing the waning comic strip, Wood and Feiffer launched Spirit into space in a six-story mini-run. This period showcased Wood's unparalleled mastery of science fiction comics, marking perhaps his most mature and creative phase. This title splash page, concluding the series on September 7, 1952, features The Man in the Moon. Ink on Bristol board with an image area of 13" x 16", complete with original paste-ups, pinholes at the edges, and whiteout. In Excellent condition.
