Description

Terrors of the Jungle #21 Complete 10-Page Story "Jungle Jo in the Evil Eyes of Death" Original Art (Star Publ., 1953). Jungle Jo, a Tarzan takeoff from controversial publisher Victor Fox, had collapsed, but Star Publ.'s L.B. Cole stepped in to salvage much of the art. The set-up and characters (characteristic of Fox) resemble various jungle-adventure stories from a larger rival, Fiction House. Though undocumented as to credits, portions of the art -- the running, leaping, and crouching postures -- bear a resemblance to the early work of Carmine Infantino. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12" x 19". Moderate toning, with scattered adhesive staining. Very Good condition.
