PLATINUM

Will Eisner A Contract With God Story Page 4 Original Art (Baronet Books, 1978). Rain pours down over the Bronx. Frimme Hersh walks home. He has just buried his daughter. Will Eisner's masterful art and storytelling make this harrowing story page perhaps the most iconic from A Contract With God, one of the first true graphic novels in the history of the Ninth Art.
Frimme's loss echoes Eisner's own tragedy -- the death of his daughter, Alice, who passed away from leukemia at 16. This profound personal grief was the catalyst that drove Eisner to create his masterpiece.
The artwork inspired the book's cover, and was later republished on the back cover of DC Comics' 2001 trade paperback edition, as well as on the cover of A Contract with God: Curator's Collection (Kitchen Sink/Dark Horse, 2018).
Offered for the first time, this page is rendered in ink over graphite on vellum, and taped to a sheet of art paper. The artwork has an image area of 6.5" x 9.5". Light handling wear and marginal staining. In Very Good condition.
