Description

Whilce Portacio and Art Thibert The Uncanny X-Men #283 Bishop First Full Appearance Issue Story Page 6 Original Art (Marvel, 1991). One of the most important and popular mutants introduced after Giant-Size X-Men, Bishop bursts onto the scene, emerging through a portal from the future in pursuit of the time-traveling criminal Trevor Fitzroy. This issue is widely acknowledged as his first full appearance, following a last-page cameo in issue #282. Making an immediate impact, his sudden arrival prompts Storm to question whether Bishop and his soon-to-be-deceased teammates, Malcolm and Randall, are from the infamous "Days of Future Past" timeline, as she marvels at the imposing mutant's energy-absorbing powers. A critical turning point for the X-Men, this page is rendered in ink over blue pencil on Marvel Comics Bristol board with an image area of 10.25" x 15.75". All text elements are paste-ups, with some now loose (though none are missing) and several showing residue staining, some of which has migrated into the artwork. Additional production elements include holes punched along the center margins, areas of whiteout, and a paste-up art correction to Storm's face in Panel 2. Moderate corner and edge wear present. Signed at lower right and in Very Good condition.

More Information: EDIT: clarified the character's first cameo appearance was in the issue prior.
