Description

Steve Bissette and Tom Yeates The Saga of Swamp Thing #8 Story Page 11 Original Art (DC, 1982). This issue serves up a cinematic delight, as Martin Pasko spins a surreal tale staged like a movie, peppered with nods to Casablanca, Citizen Kane, and, most memorably on this page, King Kong. Swamp Thing begins as a bewildered spectator, watching the great ape atop the Empire State Building with Lizabeth Tremayne as his captive, only to be swept into the fantasy himself as he suddenly becomes the pilot of a biplane. Although Tom Yeates is credited for the art on "Here's Lookin' at You, Kid", the letters page in Issue #14 clarified that Stephen Bissette supplied most of the layouts. The striking symmetry and cinematic staging on this page strongly reflect Bissette's hand. Ink over graphite on DC Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15.25". Light toning, some foxing on the back, minor staining, smudging/soiling, production-trimmed edges/corners, whiteout corrections, blue marker/pencil editorial notes/marks, text correction paste-up, top right corner crease, and minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
