Russ Heath Showcase #29 Story Page 7 Sea Devils Original Art (DC, 1960). The scuba-diving Sea Devils crew captures a sunken treasure -- only to find themselves threatened by a bed of underwater quicksand. Powerhouse artwork from a pilot episode that led to a Sea Devils book in its own right -- part of the heroic team-comics movement that had originated with 1959-60's Justice League. Panel 1's ghostly submerged shot makes an ideal introduction to a sequence of urgent peril. Ink over graphite on Bristol board.
