Paul Pelletier Fear Itself: The Fearless #12 Double-Page Spread 9-10 Original Art (Marvel, 2012). This gorgeous two-page partial splash features Valkyrie (Brunnhilde), returned from the dead, triumphantly ushering an army of banished shieldmaidens riding pegasus's into battle against an enchanted Destroyer! Wearing an incredibly detailed set of never-before-seen Asgardian armor designed by Pelletier, Valkyrie assuredly charges at the Destroyer, slashing off its hand and turning the battle's tide. In 2013, as part of its Marvel NOW! publishing initiative, Marvel launched Fearless Defenders, which confirmed Valkyrie's bisexuality through a kiss with teammate Annabelle Riggs. Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has also been established as bisexual, pushing the boundaries of gender stereotypes even further by adopting the title of "King Valkyrie" upon ascending to the throne of New Asgard. Graphite over blue pencil on Marvel Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Light smudging/handling wear. Signed and dated by Pelletier in the bottom margin.
