Jim Lee and Art Thibert X-Men #5 Double Page Spread 18-19 Original Art (Marvel, 1992). Jim Lee double-page splashes are exhilarating -- not only the powerful artwork, dynamic and detailed, but the intricate storytelling weaved across the two pages that seems to flow perfectly with the action. In this offering, Wolverine escapes the captivity of Omega Red, running through the panels until finding his ultimate exit. But during the pulse-pounding chase, Lee manages to throw in a flashback from Wolverine's memory, referencing his plan for freedom, while on Team X with Sabretooth and Maverick, which is the first time we see Wolverine's former teammate. This is an awesome sequence that brings some of Wolverine's past to the present! Ink over graphite and blue pencil on two conjoined Marvel Bristol boards with a combined image area of 21.5" x 15.5". Held by tape on the back, overlapping to the front with discoloring, text paste-ups and blue shading on the effect paste-up, staple holes in the top corners, with light residue staining and handling wear.
