Description

Jack Cole, Fred Guardineer, and others - Complete 1-Page Stories Original Art (Chesler/Dynamic, 1937-43). From the first comic book packaging studio, Harry "A" Chesler Studios, comes this collection of six single page gag stories from a variety of titles and creators. These single page gags were created to fill out comic issues to aid with pagination. Many of these ran sporadically across any number of titles and some of these were reprinted in other titles from other subsequent publishers. These pages were often themed around a common premise. This lot includes: "Insurance Ike" by Jack (Plastic Man) Cole from Dynamic Comics #12 (Chesler, 1941); "Killer McGee" by Joe Beck and Otto Eppers from Yankee Comics #5 (Chesler, 1943); "Wilbur" by Joe Beck Otto Eppers from Yankee Comics #7 (Chesler, 1943); "Joe Picket" by Joe Beck and Otto Eppers from Star Comics #6 (Chesler, 1937); "Ima Sphinx" attributed to Fred Guardineer from Mirth of a Nation #5 (Dynamic, 1943) and "Professor McScrewy" attributed to Fred Guardineer from Star Comics #6 (Chesler, 1937). Each page was produced in ink over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 8.5" X 13.5", all mounted to a second illustration board with a total area of 28" X 28" square. Boards are moderately toned with moderate handling and wear. Graphite smudges, ink stains, whiteout touchups and glue residue. In Very Good condition.
