Description

Howard Chaykin Star Wars #1 Story Page 7 Original Art (Marvel, 1977). This historic page represents the earliest Marvel Star Wars art Heritage Auctions has ever offered! C-3PO and R2-D2 cross the Junland Wastes of Tatooine after climbing from a smoking escape pod, dwarfed by desert wreckage. Dialogue snaps as they argue, separate, and push forward alone. The pacing tightens when R2-D2 falls into the grasp of roaming Jawas, captured in stark vertical panels and sharp motion beats. Howard Chaykin establishes the initial visual language of Marvel's Star Wars with clean forms, technical accuracy, and cinematic flow. With direct access to Lucasfilm reference materials, he converts film design into confident comics language at a moment when visual references were scarce. Rendered in ink and white paint highlights over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Light toning, spot stain, stat page number (11, but story Page 7), "Continued ..." stat paste-up in the lower margin, light handling wear, discolored production tape on the top and bottom margins. In Very Good condition.
