H. G. Peter Wonder Woman Unpublished "Nuclear, the Magnetic Menace" Story Page 11 Original Art (DC, 1940s). Not only is this a complete, early Wonder Woman page by H. G. Peter, but this is a piece of an interesting mystery which has been discussed and researched for decades! This is one of the lost pages from the first Nuclear story. In Wonder Woman #43 (1950), the Amazing Amazon faces the Magnetic Menace in "Nuclear Returns" -- but this was the villain's first, and last, published story. Where did he "Return" from? When did he first appear? Writer Roy Thomas detailed his search for Nuclear in Alter Ego Magazine #5 (TwoMorrows, 2000), explaining how the first story introducing the character must have been scrapped by DC, possibly around the late 1940s. Later, panel art would begin popping up from an unpublished story featuring Nuclear. It is unknown how many pages from the story still exist, but this is the first "full" page we have seen, saved from destruction, but still bearing the cuts from near ruin. On the page, Nuclear has Wonder Woman tied up while using his new Magnetic Gun to pull three ladies to their doom. We are thrilled to offer this wonderful page which has gone unseen and was thought lost. Twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 13" x 18". The page has been cut between the panel tiers and rejoined by tape on the back. Blue pencil text, text correction paste-up and residue staining from missing paste-ups, marginal staple holes and faded notes, with light staining and edge/handling wear. In Very Good condition.
From the Christine Farrell Complete DC Collection.
