Dave Cockrum and Hilary Barta Special Edition X-Men #1 Backup Story Page 6 Original Art (Marvel, 1983). In this backup story x-clusive to the first-ever reprint of Giant-Size X-Men, Kitty Pryde gives Illyana Rasputin (the future Magik) a rare peek into the private quarters of Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Colossus. Naturally, Wolverine's room is filled with beer cans, samurai blades, and photos of Mariko and Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel). Nightcrawler's reflects his swashbuckling spirit, while Colossus' space reminds us that behind the metal exterior lies a sensitive artist. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". The board shows significant toning, along with whiteout corrections, marginal notes, and corner and edge wear. None of the paste-up word balloons are adhered to the board, though they are included -- affixed to a separate backing board from which they cannot be easily removed. Also includes a 1:1 black-and-white print of the finished page with the text in place. Signed on the reverse by legendary X-Men creators Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum.
