Dan DeCarlo Jr. (as Dan Carlo Jr.) and Jim DeCarlo Archie Giant Series Magazine #563 Story Page 1 Original Art (Archie, 1986). A next-generation line of the Archie franchise's DeCarlo family tackles the classic Riverdale characters with pleasing and provocative results. Archie Andrews and Jughead Jones are ready for a picnic on the opening page of "Picnic Problems", if only someone will take responsibility for the food. Genial Betty Cooper volunteers, but conniving Veronica Lodge insists upon taking charge. Something about her expression foretells a lunch-basket disaster. Dan, Jr., and Jim, twin sons of longtime Archie architect Dan DeCarlo, capture the vibe with spirited accuracy. The chronic rivalry between Betty and Veronica has seldom looked so sinister, even in the seemingly innocent setting. The issue also is known as Betty and Veronica Spectacular.
