    Description

Steve Ditko Beware the Creeper #2 Story Page 21 Original Art (DC Comics, 1968). Steve Ditko's vigilante hero, the Creeper, was one of DC's most unusual Silver Age features, and was harder-edged than Ditko's more famous co-creation, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. This page features just about every popular onomatopoeia in skewed panels and over-the-top action, and a nice self-referential billboard plug. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Light toning to the board, the "DC" logos in the first panel are paste-ups, the one on the right has a small piece of tape on it, there is adhesive residue in the first panel by "Creeper", in the 3rd panel, and in the last two panels. There are hole punches on the top and bottom edges, staple holes on the bottom left corner, faint smudges, whiteout on the edges, and tape on the back corners. In Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
