    Description

Stan Sakai Usagi Yojimbo Trade Paperback #28 "Red Scorpion" Cover Original Art (Dark Horse/Fantagraphics, 2014). If you've been following the fan press, you know that Stan Sakai is dealing with significant medical expenses on the part of his wife Sharon. So know that bidding aggressively on this and the following lots of his work will benefit him measurably and directly.
This is an amazing watercolor painted cover from the creator of the ronin rabbit, Stan Sakai. The richness of color is only matched by the beauty of the linework in this image. It was painted on October 9, 2013 and used as the cover for a trade paperback that collected issues #132-138 from the third volume of the main title. It has a huge Stan Sakai signature on the back, complete with bunny head. This gorgeous piece measures approximately 7.5" x 10.5" and is on very thick Bristol board. It is in Excellent condition. From the Personal Collection of Stan Sakai.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
