Stan Lynde Rick O'Shay Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 4-14-63 (Chicago Tribune Syndicate, 1963). Lynde had little tolerance for civilization but drew sustenance from nature -- an attitude consistent with his upbringing in the wilderness areas of Montana. The most Lynde-like character in Rick O'Shay is gunfighter Hipshot Percussion, featured here in an episode that drives home the artist's fondness for the untamed natural world. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 27" x 12". Moderate toning, spot-staining and light wrinkling at right. Condition is Very Good.
