    Description

Val Mayerik The Savage Sword of Conan #94 Splash Page 37 Original Art (Marvel Comics, 1983). Bold internal splash tilts its panels at jarring angles, the better to depict a desperate struggle between Robert E. Howard's Conan the Cimmerian and a menacing Jinn of the 13th Order. Labeled as for issue #95, the story appeared in #94 instead. Mayerik's lush pen-point work shows a dimensional, pebbled bas-relief where the artist laid on the ink in thick layers. The shading juxtaposes patches of crosshatched crayon with lavish ink-wash effects. Ink and crayon over graphite on Bristol board, with painted white retouching. Image area, 10.5" x 15". Faint toning and marginal smudging. Blue-pencil editorial marks in two panels. Very Good condition.
