Description

Scott McCloud Understanding Comics Page 4 and 214 Original Art Group (Tundra, 1993). Pair of fantastic "comics globe" pages from artist/writer Scott McCloud's groundbreaking nonfiction book about the comic book making process. Included are page 4, which introduces the globe, loaded with small portraits of famous comic strip and book characters, like Spider-Man, Charlie Brown, Popeye, Batman, Tintin, Superman, Alfred E, Neuman, and too many more to mention; and also page 214, a splash page showing the globe, now filled with symbols, and Scott at his drawing table. The art is in ink and black marker over graphite on Bristol board, with an approximate image area per page measuring 9" x 13.5". The black marker is beginning to fade, most noticeable on page 4, but this hardly affects the great eye appeal both pages have. Each page is signed and inscribed to "Jamie." Overall Excellent condition. This is the first time any pages from Understanding Comics have come our way!
