Description

Rudy Florese and Joe Kubert - Tarzan #248, pages 2 and 3 Double Splash Page Original Art (DC, 1976). Joe Kubert scripted and provided panel breakdowns for his artistic collaborator Rudy Florese, in order to maintain the look of the Tarzan title he edited for DC. Here Kubert uses the unique double-page splash layout format that he pioneered for the DC war books. Joe Kubert's vision of the Lord of the Jungle was very faithful to that of his childhood idol Hal Foster, far more gritty and savage than the Russ Manning interpretation at Gold Key. This dramatic boxing scene, with its howling spectators, has all the hallmarks and violent action of a Joe Kubert composition. The pages combine for an overall image area of 15" x 21". The art has a few touches of white-out; otherwise, it is in Excellent condition. This is a knockout double-page splash that is sure to floor Tarzan fans!
