Paul Smith The Golden Age #1 Splash Page 2 Original Art (DC, 1993). An often overlooked gem of a story, James Robinson made a name for himself with this four-issue Elseworlds miniseries, which led to him getting his own series, Starman. Paul Smith was already a fan-favorite artist from his uncanny run on the X-Men at Marvel. An incredible splash page, it is simply jam-packed with Golden Age characters: Black Condor, Johnny Thunder and Thunderbolt, Johnny Quick, Uncle Sam, The Ray, Doctor Mid-Nite, Sargon the Sorcerer, the Vigilante, Shining Knight, Midnight, Wildcat, Mr. America, Phantom Lady, Black Canary, Black Hawk, Manhunter, Liberty Belle, the Tarantula, Doctor Fate, the Guardian, Captain Triumph, Plastic Man, and Robotman, plus many too small to make out! Manhunter and Captain Triumph are stat paste-ups. There is a good amount of white out art correction on the page covering some previous inkwork. Signed PMS in the lower right, this ink on bright white DC Bristol board splash has an image area of 10.25" x 15.75". There is production tape in the top and bottom margins. Numbered as Page 4, it is actually story Page 2. The image area is in Excellent condition. From the Ethan Roberts Estate Collection.
