They also gave the art duty to rising star French artist Olivier Coipel. What the artist gave Marvel would become a modern masterpiece. Not only was Coipel's Thor loudly trumpeted as the best design the character had seen since the days of Walt Simonson, but the rebirth also came with a costume change to one of Marvel's original looks. The new costume was such a hit that it was the version of the character depicted on the big screen when Thor made his global hit-making debut in one of the linchpins in the Marvel Films library. The two pages of Coipel Thor art in our sale represent two of the most significant pieces of modern Thor art in the past 20 years -- the first cover and story appearance of Thor's new costume as well as his first re-appearance in the Marvel Universe after a nearly three year hiatus." This electrifying splash has an image area of 10.25" x 15.5", and the art is in Excellent condition.
