Description

Nick Cardy Aquaman #33 Splash Page 1 First Appearance of Aqua-Girl Original Art (DC, 1967). Cardy's celebrated run on Aquaman defined the character's popular image during the 1960s as decisively as Ramona Fradon had defined the less prominent Aquaman series of the 1950s. Cardy's lavish wet-brush inking (over his own penciling) makes this urgent image - "...we've killed Aquaman!" - an impressive début for the supporting character known as Tula, alias Aqua-Girl (Bob Haney's hipster dialogue refers to her as "Aqua-Chick"). Ink over graphite on Bristol board. A slightly smaller-than-usual image area measures 9.5" x 13", with a blank space below to accommodate the issue's indicia text. Cardy's stylized autograph appears in lower margin. Moderately toned, with adhesive seams around the logotype. Very Good condition.
