John Romita Sr. The Amazing Spider-Man #112 Splash Page 1 Original Art (Marvel, 1972). Spidey swings in, dumps Martin Blank, aka the Gibbon, at the hospital like a late pizza delivery, and swings right back out before anyone can even ask for a signature. A frazzled nurse is left holding the bag...and the costume...begging for answers that vanish out the window with our friendly neighborhood wall-crawler. So what's got Spider-Man acting so cold? Simple: Aunt May is missing after a tiff with Gwen Stacy, and Peter's got zero patience for explanations, paperwork, or bedside manners.The opener lands like a headline -- "Spidey Cops Out!" -- splashed in ink as blunt as the accusation itself. For fans of the classic look, Romita even threads nostalgic webbing through the "Spidey" lettering, a subtle nod to Ditko-era flair. The composition says it all: Spider-Man front and center, already halfway out the frame, urgency overriding heroics. And as Peter's distraction grows, you can bet J. Jonah Jameson is ready to spin it into tomorrow's bad press.
Ink over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 10.5" x 14.25" (including indicia paste-up). Board exhibits two visible waves, with slight lift at the top and a minor ripple near the center. Light toning, with 1.5" tear on left edge slightly impacting image area, missing logo header paste-up at top, adhesive residue staining, whiteout corrections, some tape over stat indicia and page number paste-ups, scraping effects, production oil staining, smudging, and minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
