John Romita Jr. and Scott Hanna The Amazing Spider-Man #26 Splash Page 1 Original Art (Marvel, 2001). Spider-Man clutches the Green Goblin's mask tightly atop a towering high-rise, lost in thought about the endless cycle of their rivalry, in this evocative splash page opener from "The Mask." This seemingly simple image powerfully conveys the relentless nature of Spider-Man's battle against the Green Goblin. No matter how many times they're defeated or unmasked, they carry the devastating knowledge of Peter Parker's identity -- a haunting reminder that they will always return to threaten him and those he holds dear. Expertly rendered in ink over graphite on Marvel Bristol board with an image area of 10.5" x 15.75". Light smudging, note from Romita Jr. to writer Howard Mackie above the image area, and light handling wear. Signed and dated by Romita Jr. at the bottom of the page, and signed by Hanna on the back.
