John Byrne and Bob Layton Iron Man #118 Splash Page 1 Original Art (Marvel, 1978). Scenes showing the array of the different suits of armor are some of the most desirable Iron Man images. A double-cross by S.H.I.E.L.D. is in the offing -- Shellhead fans will recall that the result sent Tony Stark plunging out of the Helicarrier. We always thought the styles of Byrne and his old CPL-Gang cohort Layton meshed perfectly, and here's proof positive of that. By the way, a close look at the penciling of the mechanical arm shows who made all these tools for Stark Industries... none other than Black and Decker (alas, it's inked as "Blaff and Dexter," to satisfy Marvel lawyers no doubt)! Image area is 10" x 13.5". Includes all the original logo, and masthead paste-up art. There is some tanning to the paper and some glue-staining on the indicia; otherwise the condition is Excellent. Byrne signed the art, in pencil, in the center of the page.
