Description
John Buscema and Vince Colletta The Avengers #52 Splash Page 1 Original Art (Marvel, 1968). This splash page was the Black Panther's first internal appearance in The Avengers! In fact, it was only his 10th appearance in the Marvel Universe at all. He debuted in a three-issue story in Fantastic Four, followed by a couple of cameo appearances, then a four-issue story arc running through Tales of Suspense/Captain America. The Black Panther (Prince T'Challa of Wakanda) would join the Avengers by the end of Issue #52 and remain an Avenger for many years.Black Panther was the first black hero in the Marvel Universe, and the first of any major comic publisher in general. And has long remained a fan-favorite character including his appearances the the Marvel Cinematic Universe (as portrayed by Chadwick Boseman).
This dynamic splash page was crafted in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15" (including stat paste-up top banner and stat indicia). There are whiteout art and text corrections on the page, as well as a couple of stripped-in text corrections. Toned and in Very Good condition.
